Food and Words 2017

Food and Words is an annual one-day writers’ festival curated by Barbara Sweeney aimed at the enthusiast, obsessed and curious reader and features authors who write about food.

Compost has been a fan since it started in 2012.  You can view the calibre of speakers by going to the archives or listen to some of the talks on the ‘Listen’ page of the Food & Words website.

It’s a full day program with 12 authors presenting.
Food, wine and drinks, served all day, are included in the ticket price.
Plus, there is a book gift for all ticket holders.

According to Mum, my first attempt at cooking, at 6 or 7, was a ‘curry’ of leaves and twigs stirred up in kids' versions of earthenware pots still used in Sri Lanka - chatties. I've broadened my repertoire since, and upgraded the utensils, but stuck with leaves and twigs, Now, though, they’re likely to be spices and herbs used in my specialty, the food of South Asia – Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh. I eat it, I cook it, I cater with it, and I take people on tours to find it – at home in Australia and back in South Asia.
