As I talk with Chris I can’t get that song [David Bowies Rebel Rebel] out of my head. Partly, that’s the image of her and her partner Margie Harris, turning up at last year’s launch of the SMH Good Food Guide with leather jackets emblazoned with “No GST” five days before the Federal election. Chefs aren’t supposed to do that in Sydney. Your supposed to provide the venue for the wannabe Machiavellis to clinch deals, not serve them up your politics, no matter how cutely disguised as dessert it may be (of which more later). But with Chris Manfield, where the food come from is also where the politics comes from, and they come as a package.
